![]() This weeks topic is using our Water Features indoors. We had inquiry from Denver Colorado about using one of our North Carolina Basalt Fountains inside a commercial location. You can use any of the water features indoors if you have the space. Make sure to do two things, catching all of the water inside your collection area and putting a flow adjustment on you pump. The collection area can be measured outside before bringing in the fountain. You can always call us we know all of our fountains. The height of the water feature has a lot to do with the splash radius, and the GPH (gallons per hour) of the pump is probably the biggest factor. You can always turn the pump down to a trickle to minimize splash, keep in mind turning a pump down too much will burn up the pump so make sure to get the sizing as close as possible. Each Garden Fountain is different and just because it is listed as an Outdoor Fountain does not mean it can't be used indoors. Its always best to involve a professional to prevent making costly mistakes. We offer support from many years of experience. If you have a question about any of our products send us an e-mail or give us a call. If there's a water feature you don't see here we can probably order it for you and if you buy from us our experience goes with it. ![]() This weeks question was from a caller in Ohio. He had been to a home show and saw real basalt column fountains set up by a landscape company as part of their display. He went home and did a search on the web and found us. He question was what are the advantages and disadvantages of Real Rock vs GFRC? I get asked this a lot. GFRC (glass fiber reinforced concrete) Take it from someone who has been making, selling and installing fountains and water features for nearly twenty years. GFRC has all the advantages and none of the disadvantages. Let me list the advantages, weighs about 1/5 of what a real rock weighs, which means you don't need heavy equipment or a concrete support foundation to install. That alone makes it a DIY project, which saves a lot of money and since you don't need equipment your yard does not get torn up. Shipping charges are less and you don't need equipment to unload the truck. The lift-gate on the truck will handle the GFRC boulders. Hooking up a GFRC boulder fountain is easy. GFRC has the look, feel and texture of a real rock. It is made of a mold from a real rock. I sold real rocks before I found GFRC, and when I started bringing in the GFRC rocks no one wanted the real ones any more. I still sell a real one once in a while but my customers overwhelmingly choose the GFRC boulder fountains. Here is a link into a video with more info about the differences https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNgXXfxuijU ![]() This week we have a question from Houzz http://www.houzz.com/pro/southerngraceva/southern-grace-llc Is this a water feature fire pit. Well the answer is yes. We just started making these Fire Fountains. Its an idea I had a couple years ago. The warmth of the fire and the soothing sound of the water make a great place to gather around with family and friends. For more info visit our Fire Pit Fountain web-site http://www.boulderfirepits.com/ ![]() Here it is in the middle of winter and we are still busy. Our Fire & Water fountains are growing in popularity. Adding the warming effects of fire combined with the sound of water brings a place to entertain family & friends. We just sold a fire fountain and bubbler rock fountain to a homeowner on Smith Mountain Lake in Moneta Va. He is going to put it a lake front sitting area. ![]() We are bringing back the slate fountains and pebble pot fountains. We had these a few years ago and we loved them. The most beautiful thing about these fountains is the way the water shimmers as it flows down the sides. Especially at night with uplighting. We will put them up on our cast fountain page when we have them available. |
