How to use lighting to accent your fountain or water feature![]() Adding lighting to your water feature is the single most important accessory you can add to accent the beauty of you outdoor garden fountain. It's important to use waterproof light fixtures as regular landscape lighting is not made to be placed in an area that regularly stays wet or is placed directly onto a water feature. When choosing your lighting choice make sure to ask yourself how bright do you want the lights to be? Too bright and it will wash out the entire feature, too dim and you will not be able to see what it is you are lighting. We prefer a soft light that draws the eye without blinding and overwhelming your senses. Also do you want your garden fountain lighted on all sides or just one or two sides. Use the light to accent the flow of water on your garden fountain. An outdoor fountain that blends into the landscape during the day will take center stage at night by adding the correct outdoor fountain accent lighting. The photo's below show how the darker it gets the more your outdoor water feature stands out. This is one of our largest fountains, the Cornerstone Basalt. We installed this for one of our customers at Diamond Caverns in Kentucky. The customer previously had the diamond shaped pool so we decided to do this on a disappearing system. The customer send us pictures and dimensions so that would could determine what was needed for this project. You can see that we had to custom fit each piece. We also installed our lighting kit and plume lights in each of the columns. We had the fountain shipped on two pallets to the location and then scheduled an installation date with the customer. This took us less than a full day to complete. If you are interested in using our products for a custom project, please give us a call.
